Tips for Mac and Linux players
- No numpad? Retail zoomed the camera with Numpad + and −. webAC also zooms with the mouse wheel over the world, on by default, and you can rebind any key in Keyboard Config.
- Function keys on a Mac keyboard may need the fn key held down, depending on your keyboard settings.
- Use a mouse. A trackpad works, but AC's controls assume a mouse.
- Storage. Your browser caches the game data it streams, up to about 2.4 GB after a lot of play. Clearing the site's data frees it.
- Dropped connection? If your connection drops or your laptop sleeps, webAC reconnects and puts you back in the world on its own.
- "WebGL 2 not available"? Update the browser, and check that hardware acceleration is turned on in its settings.
Questions
Can I play Asheron's Call on a Mac?
Yes. webAC runs it in Safari, Chrome or Firefox on a Mac, Apple silicon or Intel, as long as the browser has WebGL 2. There's no Wine, CrossOver, Parallels or Boot Camp to set up.
Does Asheron's Call run on Apple silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4)?
Yes, in the browser, natively. The original Windows client only runs on Apple silicon through translation layers or a Windows virtual machine.
Can I play Asheron's Call on Linux?
Yes. webAC runs in Chrome or Firefox on a Linux desktop with working GPU drivers. The original client needs Wine.
What about a Steam Deck or a Chromebook?
Any device that runs a desktop browser with WebGL 2 should work, with a mouse attached. We haven't tested either ourselves yet, so tell us how it goes.
Can I play on an iPad or a phone?
No. webAC needs a desktop or laptop browser and a mouse; phones and tablets aren't supported.
